Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

MARAM (Multidisciplinary Academic Research and Advanced Methodologies) is dedicated to upholding high academic standards using the peer-review process.

The peer-review process is an integral part of judging the originality, relevance, methodology, clarity, and scholarly contribution of any research submitted.

MARAM operates through the use of double-blind review, whereby both the authors and the reviewers are anonymous. This method promotes unbiased evaluation and helps in the consideration of the manuscripts based on the academic merit.

First, each manuscript is subjected to editorial review. The Editor decides if the manuscript is suited for submission to the journal and worthy of review by other people. Those manuscripts which fulfill the first criteria are then reviewed by qualified reviewers.

For multi-disciplinary research, reviewers may be chosen from different disciplines if required for the proper assessment of all the aspects of the research.

Objectives of Peer Review

The peer-review process aims to:

  • Adhere to strict academic and research standards.
  • Determine the originality of the research submitted.
  • Critically examine the rigor and appropriateness of methods used.
  • Assess the importance of the research question.
  • Enhance the writing quality of the manuscript.
  • Highlight both the merits and shortcomings of the work.
  • Give constructive criticism to the authors.
  • Facilitate well-informed editorial decisions.
  • Foster research integrity and ethics.
  • Assess the contribution of interdisciplinary research to existing knowledge.

Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts according to several important criteria, including:

  • Originality of the research.
  • Relevance to the aims and scope of MARAM.
  • Clarity of research questions and objectives.
  • Quality of the literature review.
  • Appropriateness of the research design.
  • Methodological rigor and transparency.
  • Quality and reliability of data where applicable.
  • Appropriateness of analytical methods.
  • Accuracy of results and interpretation.
  • Strength of discussion and conclusions.
  • Clarity and organization of academic writing.
  • Ethical compliance.
  • Interdisciplinary relevance, where applicable.
  • Overall contribution to academic knowledge.

The reviewers can also determine whether the methodology is clearly stated and if the conclusions are supported by the evidence provided.

Editorial Decisions

After carefully considering the reviewers' reports, the Editor may make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without Revision
  • Accept with Minor Revisions
  • Major Revision and Resubmission
  • Reject

A manuscript may need to be revised if there are problems that can be sorted out by means of clarification, additional analysis, enhanced explanation, methodological improvement, or restructuring.

When an author gets the request for revisions, they need to reply to all comments from reviewers and demonstrate the changes made in the revised manuscript.

The revised manuscript can be sent back to the original reviewers.

The final decision about the paper depends on the quality, originality, scientific rigour, relevance, and the scholarly contribution of the manuscript.

MARAM upholds the principles of confidentiality, fairness, openness, independence, research integrity, and academic excellence throughout the submission and review process.
